Need to have your skates baked? Please contact us. We need you present for skate baking, and so an appointment is required (approx. 40 minutes).

Not all skates are manufactured with thermoformable materials. See below for details.

The Process

  • Read our terms and conditions
  • Contact us to arrange an appointment for head moulding.
  • Come to the appointment with your skates and the socks you would normally skate in
  • We'll take the skates to heat them for around 10 minutes, then bring them back out to you
  • We'll offer to tighten the skates, or you can do this yourself. We may also wrap the skates for added compression without damaging the lace eyelets.
  • You'll need to sit for around 15 minutes. We will periodically check the skates and adjust as necessary.
  • You'll take the skates home from the appointment - but must not skate on them for 24 hours as a precaution against damage.

Do I really need to bake my skates?

Some skates cannot be baked - but if they can, it can speed up breaking in skates, and offers an easy way to solve many issues skaters have with the fit of their skate on their foot.

If you're unsure whether you can or should have the skate baked, please contact us.

What does heat moulding do?

Heat moulding forms the skate around the natural shape of your foot, accounting for the incredibly complex musculoskeletal system of the foot. It cannot be used in place of proper sizing of the skate, but it can, in a limited way, relax out the skate to afford a little more room in the width, if you're finding the skate just a bit too snug.

Can I bake skates myself?

While possible (there are guides on the internet), we do not recommend this. We use a special oven and tools designed specifically for the purpose. Baking skates at home carries with it the risk of damage to the skate (or burns to yourself).
